Religious Accommodation Guidelines

The following calendar is meant as a guide to religious accommodations The guide has been compiled using the Interfaith Calendar as a source, and is provided for reference purposes only. It is not intended to be, nor should be relied upon as an authority on holy days.

Please note:

  • Dates of Islamic observance are tentative because they are based on the local first sightings of the lunar crescent of the new moon.
  • Jewish holy days typically begin at sundown on the date prior to what is listed on this calendar.

University event planners and faculty members are encouraged to take these days into consideration when scheduling events.

The policy associated with these dates can be found in the York Courses Web site. For information on Statutory Dates, click here.
